In this chapter we give an outline of us five siblings; Robin Hickey, Peter Hickey, Eoin |Hickey, Netta Hickey (Kealy) and Caroline Hickey. We go through our schooling, careers, marriages, children and grand children.
There are some rare photographs included and we remember places such as the Hotel Russell, Royal Hibernian Hotel, the Harding Boys Home, the Lady Goulding Rehabilation Clinic, the Ardmore Hotel, Newry.
We cover people encountered including Ken Besson and his wife who kept British Saanan goats at Castleknock, the Kats family from Connecticut, Porter and Irvine Stockbrokers, Amby McInerney and his company McInerney Builders. We also meet with Lucey Franks (I.C.A.), David Niven, Jacqueline Kennedy, Princess Grace, President Eamon De Valera and Desiree Clary, Queen of Sweden.
Robin and I worked at Royal Hibernian in Dublin in summer of 1961 and spent next 12 months very close until I went to London. I met Robin again in 1969 when he and Kay were together before they married. It was a great shock when I learnt he had died too early, from my brother Seamus, who worked with him at UCD. Seamus is also now gone, and I, at 75, same as Robin would have been, am now living the dream in Spain. I remember well my couple of visits to Skryne, particularly Mrs Hickey?s hospitality close to Christmas 1961 when she collected me and Robin from Dublin and she offered me sherry (As a good Catholic, I didn?t drink!) and stayed overnight. Memories still as fresh.
